I’ve discovered that the happiest people in life are those who are both grateful and generous. I’ve never met an ungrateful person who was also happy. And I don’t know a stingy spirit who is also joyous. The opposite seems to be the case.
If there is a formula for happiness, then it must be this: HAPPINESS = GRATITUDE + GENEROSITY.
So, be grateful for sunlight, food, friends, health, and love. Be grateful even for challenges that refine you. Be grateful during the winter of your life and be grateful for and during the spring season.
Then be generous and share from what you have (both material resources and the less tangible emotions and affirmations). Gratitude precedes a generous spirit. Generosity is the other side of the coin. Give and it will be given to you. Multiplied. It just works that way .
Cultivating a twin spirit of gratitude and generosity will inevitably lead to authentic and lasting happiness. There is no other way.
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” II Corinthians 9:6-7
Two thumbs up!
